Budget laptops have come a long way

I'm mainly looking at this laptop from a creative home user's perspective. At the moment I'm really into drawing on computers, starting with my Surface Book 2. So I was very curious to see how much laptop you can get for about a quarter of the price (except for the Asus Pen 2 which cost me an extra 100). ). - It is in this that the budget of the device is manifested. The case is made of black polished aluminum and easily picks up fingerprints. The power button is a tiny protrusion on the side of the case that you can't touch. The barrel connector looks very 2012. On the sides we only see 2 full-size USB ports, but interestingly a full-size HDMI port, a USB-C port and a micro SD expansion port. This comes in really handy if you want to store files locally, as the included SSD only has 128GB and less than 100GB free. Windows 10 is in S mode, which can be easily bypassed if you want to boot from outside the Windows Store. programs. Windows Hello cannot be accessed via the webcam, but the fingerprint sensor is integrated into the trackpad. This works, but is a bit fiddly. The trackpad is quite small, but accurate enough that navigating the device is not tiring. The hinge itself is quite solid and the screen shakes very little in laptop mode. The hinge rotates fully to put the laptop in tablet mode. It's a far cry from a detachable Surface Book now, as the keyboard stays attached, but that's no bad thing. The keyboard tray has small rubber feet that allow you to place the device fairly stably on the table in drawing mode. The screen also accepts the tablet orientation with a satisfying density and does not wobble when drawing. You won't use it like a real tablet, but for drawing it's more than acceptable. SCREEN and AUDIO The screen is a 1920 x 1080 16:9 display which seems quite outdated having been on a 2:3 display. It gets bright enough, but not bright enough for outdoor use on a sunny day in my opinion. View from one angle is quite decent. It's not premium and nowhere near as impressive as the bezels found on Surface Book or MacBook laptops. But that's a far cry from the budget laptops of a decade ago. However, I was very impressed with the sound. This laptop is loud, the sound is quite rich for a laptop and doesn't distort at high volumes. This is the perfect device if you want to stream videos or watch YouTube. DRAWING I have previously used two different settings for drawing on screen - Surface Book and Surface Pen and Acer Switch with Acer Stylus (since 2016). The latter was pretty pathetic in comparison, so I was very curious about the VivoBook. I'm happy to report that "budget" Windows drawing devices have come a very long way in the last 5 years. The Asus Pen 2 is quite responsive, and the VivoBook was fast enough to register strokes in real time in Sketchbook, Zenbrush, and Spirality. The diagonal lines didn't jerk much at all. The Surface Book still wins awards for accuracy and responsiveness, but if you're looking for a budget drawing laptop, the VivoBook is no fool and comes close! . It would be a great school laptop for a young student who needs zoom, word processing, web browsing and handwriting. This laptop is more than adequate for light office tasks, but it won't be able to handle the Adobe suite or do heavy video editing with just the Core i3 and integrated Intel GPU. I really think this is a very attractive budget option for an artist who wants to paint in a Windows environment when they don't want to do it in PhotoShop, which is too much for these internal devices. But it works with Autodesk Sketchbook and similar apps with aplomb. Yes, you'll have to pay for an extra stylus, but the same goes for Microsoft's Surface line.
