I have had a dynamic microphone for many years. It served me well, but the noise was just awful, especially for podcasts. So I bought Blue Snowball. Again, the sound quality was much better, but I couldn't control myself directly. Frustrated, I bought a small mixer, but the Snowball didn't work because it's USB only and the channels are analog. I started looking for an XLR recording microphone. I came across this and was very skeptical of his work due to the surprisingly low price. I took a chance and ordered one. I reasoned that if it didn't live up to my expectations I could always get a higher level version or just go with everyone else which seems to be the Blue Yeti. I plugged it in, turned on the phantom power and wow. Great, super quiet. Virtually no line noise. I was very, very impressed. I still wonder how it can be so cheap and get such performance. The only thing I can think of is that with higher hardware the limitations will show? I've seen condenser mics cost thousands of dollars. I probably won't make the next gold record, so I'll be happy with this one. If you are on a budget and have access to phantom power I would recommend this one.
