This is exactly what you should expect when you buy $30 skates. These are great little skates for a young child (my son is 5) and will allow him to learn. I expect within a year he'll outgrow it and want something better or get bored and move on to something else. In terms of quality, the board is strong enough to carry me (180lbs) and the wheels are very good quality with good bearings. The urethane is soft and the board rides well on tarmac. This is NOT an adult board as it is very small. If you're looking for something a tall kid or adult can use, I recommend getting a model that's at least 27 inches tall.
