These are sponges that leave residue. They are too thick and don't dry quickly and hard like typical Swedish kitchen rags. It cleans the counter well, but is too thick to wash glassware well, for example. And I wouldn't recommend machine washing like a typical Swedish washcloth unless you want all the clothes to be to shreds! And because they dry slowly, I think the bacteria in them have an advantage, like in a normal thicker sponge. The microwave will be a constant companion of these sponges to keep bacteria at bay.
