Review on Sony ICFC180 AM/FM Clock Radio - Discontinued Model, White Color by Abdalla Galloway

This is an updated version of the classic Sony "Dream Station" cube alarm clock that everyone you knew in college had. It's a little smaller and has a lot more features, but it's the same old Sony alarm you know and trust. Pros: Virtually indestructible. This one is destined to be abused. Double. . .no, do it. . .Quad alarm clock. It has two separate alarms, but also a holiday mode that switches them to holiday settings that are independent of other alarms. Result? 4 semi-independent alarms. User friendliness. Many dual alarms are difficult to set, reset and turn off, often requiring a complicated sequence of button presses, dancing one device just to turn on one alarm and turn on the other. It's a lot easier, and instructions aren't even that necessary. - Easy to read display. said Nuff. - sleep mode. Press the button and the alarm will sound every 10 minutes for each press. - Battery backup alarm. In the event of a power failure, a buzzer will sound during the alarm, trying to at least wake you up. Cons: - Sound quality. How is the sound quality? I think I could tell there was music on that radio station, but I'm still not sure. - Two brightness settings. Glare and glare from a nuclear explosion. If you can't sleep because this thing is so bright, at least you can entertain yourself all night by making shadow puppets. Even so, you should apply sunscreen before bed. - No progressive alarm. This feature is becoming more common, but is absent in this one. It's essentially a gradually increasing alarm volume (whether radio or buzzer) that's much less disruptive to waking than sudden alarms. Considering the cost, this is definitely worth trying. It is fully functional and will most likely survive doomsday. You can't ask for more at this price point, but I wish there was a better sounding high end model with all these features plus progressive wake up. 4 stars.
