If you are looking for a waterproof card case then this is not it. While it's very well built, especially for the money, it's not waterproof. This case is designed to be kept in your backpack or pocket until you need your card. If necessary, the map can be viewed for hours in the pouring rain, as long as the transparent part is facing up. Then you fold it up and put it back in your pocket. For optimal use, take a large zippered bag and then put it in the bag. For everything else, it should be sufficiently waterproof.
