Problems charging the Garmin Forerunner 205 and the battery cannot be replaced.

You can't replace a battery that fails after a few years. After about 3 months, the Forerunner 205 will not snap into the charging station. I used the strap for a while to attach it to the charging cradle and charge it. Then the band broke and I replaced the band and couldn't attach it to the charging cradle with the new band so I took a strong rubber band and used it to attach it to the charging cradle. It's a real pain, I spend a lot of time with the band trying to get the Forerunner 205 to show charging and adjusting the band. If I do everything right and it shows it's charging, I try to put it on the table and it turns off or wakes up. I get really frustrated trying to get this charge. One day it must have stopped charging and got active and drained the battery while in the charging cradle and I thought it would stop working and I bought a Garmin 305. A few weeks later I put the 205 in the charger with a rubber band. - There is no sign that he has charged and eventually he has enough charge to come back to life. While (2 months) Garmin 305 is charging in the charging station. This is the Garmin 205's main design flaw. Addendum to my review. I found that I could charge the Garmin 205 by simply placing it on the charger. However, the battery now only holds a charge that allows a runtime of less than 2 hours and you cannot replace the battery.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Good, but not great
