You can't replace a battery that fails after a few years. After about 3 months, the Forerunner 205 will not snap into the charging station. I used the strap for a while to attach it to the charging cradle and charge it. Then the band broke and I replaced the band and couldn't attach it to the charging cradle with the new band so I took a strong rubber band and used it to attach it to the charging cradle. It's a real pain, I spend a lot of time with the band trying to get the Forerunner 205 to…

    An essential learning tool!

For serious long-distance runners, Garmin GPS watches are an essential training tool. Once you've acquired satellites, you'll have the information you need (time, distance and pace) to make every run count. The Garmin 205 is the most basic watch in the Garmin GPS watch line, but it still packs a lot of features that make it a great value. You can customize the display to show different data fields. Mine is set to show total time, distance, current pace and average pace for each workout. When I…

The big improvement over 201 wouldn't be possible without it

I use my device every day. When I'm done, I press stop and then turn off the device. I place it on the PC interface and it automatically downloads runs and takes care of charging. If I don't turn it off, it continues to track satellites, sometimes working indoors, indicating its high sensitivity. However, I don't get a good charge if left on and then placed on a charger. Some features: I find this better when searching for satellites in the woods or in very wet conditions, I live in northern…

    Fine - Working GPS navigators

Very satisfied. It's really a bit big and I tend to have small wrists, but I still had to wear a longer strap. The smaller group only gave me about two holes to play. Longer strip over six holes. Seems pretty accurate. I drive the same route without much variety. There seems to be a 0.07 option which is pretty good for a 13+ mile hike. I have three bikes and they all have computers, wireless and wired. Computer and Garmin seem to match in time, speed and distance covered. I upload to both…

Great way to track your runs and calories!

I started running with a Nike Plus fitness chip and an iPod, but as the distance went I found that running performance decreased no matter how often I calibrated the chip, so I invested in a Garmin 205 Why 205 vs 305 or 405.205-205 is a basic GPS receiver I could get for less than $125.00 to see if I like it - It has all the features of the 305 except for the heart rate monitor . The truth is, I don't know how to train with a heart rate monitor and don't want the extra expense. The cool thing…

    Great system to work with

Love this GPS watch. I've used Nike+ stuff before, and that's why I like Garmin watches better: 1. Nike+ sensors wear out after a few months and they're $29 each. So in the next 3 years the cost will be about the same.2. GPS watch is more accurate.3. It automatically shows routes.4. The software lets you add workouts you did without the watch - Nike doesn't.5. You can plan workouts, I found some free marathon training plans on runner's world UK.6. Suitable for cycling, hiking, etc., not only…

Garmin Forerunner 205 Love it rating - I'm giving it 4 stars

Pros: The Garmin Forerunner 205 is a very comfortable and high quality running GPS because you can see how fast you are actually moving Time. time (my average speed is 6.3mph) it tells you how long and how far you've run, which are the most important things I need to know about running. This is my first watch with GPS. I find a GPS watch better than a smartphone because it's much lighter and you don't have to carry it in your pocket when running. You can hold a smartphone and listen to music at

A must for any runner, biker or combination athlete

Having recently run my first marathon (July 6th - SF) and half marathon (October 6th - SJ) I was looking forward to something that I could use outdoors. Keep an eye on all important data. I'm very used and tired of running on a treadmill to find out. I took a chance and got the Forerunner 205. I couldn't be happier. When I opened the package, I immediately turned it on inside and it found the satellites in about three minutes. Before running it, I took it to work while driving and tested speed,

Too long for de - Wow that's amazing

This item is amazing. I've had the 205 for a few days now and have done a few runs with it, although I plan to use it for cycling as well. Obviously there are a lot of cool things you can do with it, create maps of your runs, then complete those runs, turn them into routes and later compete against yourself. However, the main reason I wanted it was: - to estimate mileage - to get speed/pitch feedback. First Mileage Estimates - I never knew how far I ran and just assumed. Now I'm training for a…
