An essential learning tool!

For serious long-distance runners, Garmin GPS watches are an essential training tool. Once you've acquired satellites, you'll have the information you need (time, distance and pace) to make every run count. The Garmin 205 is the most basic watch in the Garmin GPS watch line, but it still packs a lot of features that make it a great value. You can customize the display to show different data fields. Mine is set to show total time, distance, current pace and average pace for each workout. When I go on a long training run, I no longer appreciate how far I've come or what pace I'm at for the duration of the run. It's useful when running because I can control my pace and make sure I'm not going too fast for the first few miles. After training, place your Garmin 205 in a mount that is connected to your computer. This will charge the device and you can also transfer the mileage stats to the software that comes with the watch. This allows you to log all your workouts so you can track your progress as you improve. You can also upload workouts to the Garmin Connect website, which is an online fitness magazine. The site shows each run on a map, and you can view your distance, pace, and more for each workout. Send the URL to your friends to show them your last workout or a new run you've discovered! The Garmin 205 is well designed and easy to use. It's a bit big, but because it's lightweight, you'll forget you're wearing it while you work out. It tracks satellites well, so it can be used on trails that have trees growing overhead. I've also used mine for cycling and cross country skiing.
