Le Creuset Waiter's Friend vs True Fabrications Wood Professional vs Prestige Coutale Corkscrew Sommelier

Although I'm sure there are many factories in China that make fake high quality corkscrews, including millions of cheap copies by Laguiole Sometimes it seems that there is only one giant corkscrew factory in China. My guess is that in many cases these factories are also makers of real brand corkscrews, and as long as they have a tool set they will produce several hundred thousand additional copies with a different name, as well as slightly reworked copies. Who knows. But this corkscrew is a good example of how the clone and the original are so close that you'd think they came from the same place. The True Fabrications Wood Professional Corkscrew is almost a clone of the Prestige Coutale Sommelier Corkscrew with a wood inlaid handle which is itself almost a clone of the waiter's friend's Le Creuset Corkscrew, which is otherwise identical to the Coutale Sommelier except for the name and logo are embossed on the loop Le Creuset. The True Fabrications Wood Professional corkscrew is identical in every respect, except that it has a cheaper wooden handle that runs the full length of the grip area, rather than terminating in a prefabricated metal shaft. does it matter? All three corkscrews placed side by side look so close in detail and finish that it seems true โ€“ please correct me if I'm wrong from the sources of knowledge โ€“ that they were made in the same factory. Even if they're not, all three seem close enough in quality and features that buying one of them is primarily price-based - pick True Fabrications for $10 (average retail price at Revain) or if it's a matter of status . and if you want a shiny wooden handle, go for Le Creuset for $35 or Coutale Sommelier for $20 (Revain average retail price). But to function. While I was skeptical of the whole concept of a two stage waiter's corkscrew, I have to say that these corkscrews work beautifully. I recommend any of the three I mentioned in relation to the Pulltap/TrueTap types as the True Fabrications Wood Professional, Coutale Sommelier and Le Creuset Waiter's Friend two stage hinge is spring loaded and much easier with a two stage opening process. Likewise, a very wide part of the handle that you pull up is much more comfortable than pulltap-type corkscrews. I have one each of True Fabrications Wood Professional, Coutale Sommelier and Le Creuset Waiter's Friend and use them interchangeably. I am very satisfied with all three and would recommend them as the purchase decision is based more on the buyer's perception of value for money, workmanship and finish as well as personal taste. All three work excellently. RECOMMENDED.
