Review on Maxi Jet 727085 1200 Water Pump by Megan Smith

I purchased this pump many years ago based on my extensive experience with Maxi-Jet pumps while keeping saltwater aquariums. I used the same model I bought 5 or 6 years ago to power a porch fountain. The aesthetic quality of a fountain is important so a very quiet pump is needed and the previous Maxi-Jet pump has met this requirement for years, running about 12 hours a day. Original pump completely burned out. However, this maxi jet was much louder than the one I replaced - so much so that it was very noticeable even through the flow of water in the fountain. Very distracting. I took it off and replaced it with the EcoPlus 396, which was very quiet. I don't know if all Maxi-Jet 1200s are noisy or if I just have a broken one; In this case, this pump may be suitable for a pond or aquarium, but I do not recommend using it where the noise of the pump would distract from its use. If you buy this pump I recommend you test it in a sink or bucket for noise levels before committing to a permanent installation.
