Review on Superior Pump 99555: Versatile Universal Plastic Pump for Enhanced Performance by Samiran Pusarla

Cheap and works

I use this pump Superior 99555 Universal Check Valve Plastic Fits any 1-1/4 or 1-1/2 MIP or FIP x 1-1/4 or 1-1/2 MIP or FIP as part of an irrigation system. I was a bit skeptical when I ordered it because of the price and the material. We live outside the city limits and depend on well water for our home and sprinkler system. I've always used brass spring close valves and they can be quite expensive. This valve has no spring. When the water pump turns on, the suction force resets the flapper valve in the check valve, allowing water to flow to the pump. As soon as the water is turned off, gravity kicks in, closing the valve flap and preventing water from flowing back into the tank. We have nearly two acres of land and the farthest side of the backyard needed help. irrigation system. There is a water channel that runs parallel to our garden so we installed a pump and used this check valve on a 1 ½" PVC pipe. The pump has a 1 ¼" inlet but the 1 ½" Pipe reduces friction as the water moves. From the tank to the pump. We installed a 1 ¼" x 1 ½" adapter at the pump inlet. The water level from the channel to the pump is about 17 feet. We have a check valve installed about three feet from the tank or 14 feet from the pump On the first and second attempts to prime the pump I managed to fill the pipes and pump with water but when I turned on the pump only a small drop of water came out out. After the second try I knew something was wrong with the check valve as it wasn't holding water in the pipe. After removing the check valve I noticed that the valve flapper was pushed to the wrong end of the valve (opposite the arrow on the de m valve). I don't know how it happened but it got stuck in the open position and wouldn't seat. I used a screwdriver handle to slide the flapper back toward the front of the valve. Arrow direction. I put the valve back in place and after a few more tries the water started flowing. So far everything is working fine. I know at least one reviewer has mentioned valve failure after a short while. I think the only thing that can cause valve problems is something stuck between the valve seat like dirt, debris, twigs etc. Also, as mentioned here, you need to make sure the valve is tight. Valve fittings have coarse threads that allow air to flow through; The use of Teflon tape is mandatory to create a watertight seal.
