I've had this set for 3 years now and at over $30 for 18 artist pens it's a steal. If you're looking to invest in a good set of watercolor pencils, this is for you. Because they are water soluble, you can use them to create many effects that you cannot achieve with just pencil colors. The biggest plus is that you can mix them to get more colors so you don't have to buy a bigger set. And because they're pencil-shaped, they're a lot easier to manipulate than real watercolors. With a good water brush (I would recommend Holbein M) you can easily create watercolor paintings. I also bought loose gold and silver watercolor to add sparkle to these pens.
