Draw without the tangle of cables: pencils

These are the best pencils. Makes watercolor painting a clean and fun project. No water bowls to get dirty - I usually just dip cotton swabs and throw them away. Very nice effects!

These Supracolors match the quality of Caran D'Ache

To start I have lots of water soluble colored pencils ranging from Crayolas to Albrecht DΓΌrer in quality. And I also generally have a lot of colored pencils - again all kinds of high-quality ones. After using these Caran D'ache Supracolor water-soluble pens a few times, I'm ready to write a review. Yes, Caran D'ache is known for being the pinnacle of colored pencils, so I have pretty high expectations. And I know that water-soluble crayons don't always reach the quality of regular…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • too silly

Just started working on these crayons. They appear to be of good quality although I understand I need a wider range of colors so perhaps a larger set would be a better choice. Of course, large sets are much more expensive and I was reluctant to invest heavily unless I intended to continue with this art form. If I do, I will most likely buy more pencils from Caran D'ache.

Pros
  • Water Soluble Crayon
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Superb Water Soluble Pens

I've had this set for 3 years now and at over $30 for 18 artist pens it's a steal. If you're looking to invest in a good set of watercolor pencils, this is for you. Because they are water soluble, you can use them to create many effects that you cannot achieve with just pencil colors. The biggest plus is that you can mix them to get more colors so you don't have to buy a bigger set. And because they're pencil-shaped, they're a lot easier to manipulate than real watercolors. With a good water…

Pros
  • Superb Lightfastness
Cons
  • Great Price

Big bucks for drawing media

For $35 I'd happily buy something a lot cheaper and with more colors to choose from. I thought I might mix a few colors to get the right shade of brown and orange to paint an orange kitten with tiger stripes. But instead I have a purplish brown and a very calendulated yellow-gold-orange. As I said, I've tried mixing brown and orange to get a great golden brown, but the raw sienna (#069) has way too much red. The umber is also very red. You would think there would be a nice orange color…

Pros
  • Set of 18
