I don't print very often. I have used expensive manufacturer inks in the past and generally they worked well. The problem with these inks is that after days/weeks of not printing they will dry out and cause clogs and require a lot of cleaning, alignment, etc. checks. It takes time, wastes ink, paper and maintenance box. This is likely to be more expensive overall than just using the manufacturer's ink. I also suspect it's bad for the printer - I tried replacing the manufacturer's ink at the first sign of a problem, but it also took a while to clean and clog. For a while I thought the printer was broken, but after about 10 cleanings it worked again. For people who print many times a day, this can be inexpensive and convenient. The printer recognized the ink and as soon as the ink started to flow, the print result was fine. But I'll never buy that again!
