Review on GE Pro 3-Outlet Extender with 2 USB Ports: Surge Protector & Charging Station Wall Tap by Pete Martin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great but be aware of some limitations.

I have just purchased the third and fourth units to use in our two bedrooms. Unfortunately, the sockets in the rooms are set to one-way switching. You flip a switch elsewhere in the room, and whatever is plugged into that side of the outlet turns on or off. This faucet has only one plug, and due to the arrangement of the prongs, the outlets in our rooms switch. Since we wanted to use USB outlets for overnight charging, we faced the reality of having to ditch the wall switch that controls our bedside lamps. Even if Tap were geared towards using an unswitched outlet, we'd be in the same boat. So now we have two faucets that need to be repurposed. Also, some outlets in our house don't have a screw in the middle of the outlet. In these cases, we cannot screw these devices into the socket. Finally, if you have concerns about the output current delivered by the USB ports, check the documentation/packaging that the taps come in. You won't find this information on a real coupler. We connect Apple and Android phones to ours and haven't had any issues, but I know the two systems have slightly different input power requirements to charge via USB. safety tap
