Review on πŸ”¨ MSA658T Multi-Purpose Rolling Planer and Miter Saw Stand with Extension Rollers by WEN by Alan Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exactly what I was looking for

I had high hopes for this device as I had a very specific application. Rather than assembling a single tool (like a trimmer or planer like they advertised). I want this station to be able to receive any number of instruments. The table only arrived yesterday so I only installed the miter but by attaching blocks of wood to the underside of each of my instruments I am able to mount them on the table. I'm still working on the clip system but expect to find out soon given the slotted holes on the top. I've used this type of setup before with a Black and Decker Workmate 500. This allowed me to clamp any tool. I've built each tool to be the exact height of my workbench on the left and therefore able to pass things like wood (chopping), trimmings (miter), tubing (chopping), etc. through my workbench. and into the instrument. Tools are removed from the table for storage. The new plan with this table is to build the exact same object, just a little stronger and not damaged by my son driving a tractor into it. :-) The folding leg is perfect and shows attention to detail. Much better than four locking casters so you can haul it around the store (or outside). but it is not designed to be mobile like on the road. Single-pedal access means you can move and lock it in one motion. I'll update this with photos but after a few test cuts I'm already feeling very positive. Pros: Sturdy one-wheel pedal is great for hands-free movement, instructions are clear, assembly was easy (all nuts and washers are the same size). This table was clearly designed by someone who solved the same problem as me in my shop. The rollers on the ends are a nice touch for feeding material. The castors can be adjusted and locked both upwards and outwards. Cons: The top was scratched, it took forever to find this solution, so the company must have some search terms like "power tool station". Finally, the table must have options for a locking plate accessory system. Instead I have to craft it. Instruments that should rotate in this bench: 1. Cross miter (tested) 2. Chopper/buffer 3. Tile cutter (outside) 4. Small vice 5. Large vise (to avoid damaging the top part during the bending movement)6. Table saw (either next to my work table or free-standing for large sheets of metal etc.)

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Poor instructions
