Although this awl works well, it took some time to hold the needle properly, MANY MORE PROBLEMS! I used to have a similar awl, also made of wood, and I wanted a duplicate. To my regret, I did not pay due attention to the appearance of the awl. My other awl uses a more traditional cap that screws onto the collet without tools. This cap also hides holes in the wooden handle for storing other needles. This awl requires a small wrench to get the job done. Fortunately, the key can be stored inside the handle. With my other awl, the sewing thread is wound from the inside of the handle. While this awl works, I miss the other one I had.
