Bought this mount to use with the Optoma HD142X projector. For my setup I needed a 13" ceiling drop for my 120" screen and I read from another reviewer that they were able to trim this mount to shorten it. So I ordered this one with the intention of doing the same. and I was able to do it without too much trouble - here are my observations: 1. The Optoma HD142X has 3 mounting holes. I wanted to position the mount directly over the lens and through trial and error this can be achieved by using short clamps and flipping one of them over (see photo #1). The supplied screws are compatible.2. Using the extensions in the box, the distance from the top to the center of the lens is 21 inches (when fully compressed to its minimum length). After trimming both extensions, I was able to trim this length down to my desired 13 inches. . I used a saw with a metal blade and it cut easily. I checked everything on the kitchen table before going to the cinema (see photo #2).3. My ceiling joists go through every 16" and I installed the short knot with the 2 screws provided (it was solid). There is a small gap between the inner and outer tubes, but once the screws were properly tightened, it became firm and my image remains stable (see photo #3). The whole thing took about an hour and overall I'm happy with the cost of these fasteners. The final setup is a bit tricky, but since I'll only be doing this once I think it's a bit impractical.
