Review on πŸ› Amerock Arrondi Stainless Steel Robe Hook - Bath Hardware for Bathroom, Towel Hook and Accessories by Brenda Sanchez

Poor hardware and customer service

A few years ago I bought 2 Arrondi towel rails and a coat hook and when I was repainting the bathroom my wife asked for a second coat hook hence this review. Also, I thought I'd lost the little metal braces that hold the towel rails to the wall, so I called customer service to see if they could help. They immediately told me I needed to buy a new towel rail which seemed useless as I only needed 2 tiny clips which were supposed to cost a penny to make. Anyway, luckily I found my braces. During installation I found a stud for the coat hook and made a pilot hole per the instructions. I used a regular hand screwdriver to screw in the first screw, and before the screw was even tightened, the screw head came right out of the screw, leaving the screw threads completely in the wall! I had no way of removing the grub screw, but I was able to move the bracket and attach it to the wall with my own screws. The hook itself is held to the bracket with a small screw at the base of the hook, which can be tightened with the small hex wrench that comes with the kit. It's uncomfortable, but frankly neat and almost imperceptible. When screwing the hook to the wall with an Allen key, it just didn't go tight, the hook stayed loose. This brought back a vague memory of how I'd attached the first hook, and of course it was unhooked. The problem is that the supplied hex key is not big enough and slips in the screw when tightening. Luckily I had another wrench of the right size and the hook clamped perfectly on the wall. Please note this is not such a big issue with towel rails as they attach to the wall at 2 points so a semi-permanent attachment will suffice, but for a coat hook this is an issue. So in the end, the crossbars and hook look pretty good, they're a bit more expensive, and the mounting hardware is of poor quality. You will need to use your own screws and allen wrenches and hopefully no need for service!
