These are excellent cutting pliers for both hard and soft wood. I cut at the recommended speed and got no burns. The tone is perfect. I restore wooden boats that require up to 5,000 forks. I've cut about 400 (mahogany) and they're still like new. I am forecasting the 5,000 milestone and will report status when I do. I will definitely buy them again. Mahogany isn't that tough, but I've cut maple, red oak, and white oak with great results. I pushed quickly and broke my abs a few times, but the blades still didn't burn! I do 4 to 5 cork dips and it works great. It keeps you a little cool.
