Review on 🔧 Proform 66784 Valve Spring Compressor: Efficient Tool for Engine Valve Maintenance by Carlos Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An invaluable product for engine cooling and air conditioning

Wow. Don't do valve seals and springs on your car without it! It took a bit of fiddling to figure out my method, but what a great tool. A few tips: 1. The center shaft has two ends with different threads for the two supported sizes of rocker arm pins2. The tool can be easily disassembled to work on valves close to the firewall. With a valve I had to install a central shaft and then a tool around it.3. It is best to use a jam nut over the base to secure the base to the tool (prevents it from moving)4. At the bottom of its stroke, the tool locks and keeps the spring compressed. Use a threaded foot to get it right.5. Go slow at first and after a few valves you will loosen it up and move forward. 6. If making valves that have never been made, use a tight bolt breaker (e.g. PB Blaster) on the mounts 3 or 4 times a couple of hours beforehand. If you're doing this with a car, use the rope method. The air is not holding the valve strong enough to break down years of oil buildup on the retainer. Finally, using the rope method, after hitting the retainer areas with a large deep socket (I used 19mm) hit the retainer hard a few times with a hammer to break the stuck retainer and loosen the retainers, allowing the tool can work. easy. It may still take some muscle to free the goalkeepers.
