I rarely review but I really like this search engine. I needed a long-range range finder, but not one that would break the bank, and I needed it fast. There were still a few days left until deer season. Long range rangers get more expensive very quickly, especially big brands. But I saw this LD 1200 here at Revain with FREE ONE DAY SHIPPING for $99 but no reviews. The previous model LD 1000 had great reviews and I was concerned about the quality and performance of such a cheap ranger but I gave the LD 1200 a try. Works amazing. Small objects, fence posts, trees, animals, bushes, objects with no light under dense trees just work. I was playing around with 710 yards, the farthest visible object from my deck in range, and it worked great. I measured 150 yards with a tape measure and it was +/- to about a yard, basically perfect depending on how steady I was holding it. The most distant object I couldn't see from the deck was a mountain with trees over 1.5 miles away and that's where it failed. But I doubt even a $1500 Ranger can handle it. I tried it in low light before dawn and it perfectly reproduced bright results up to my visibility limit of 710 with visible indicators. The LEDs can be a bit hard to see in VERY low light like all those that don't have LEDs, but it should be almost so dark you still can't see anything. It also doesn't have any frills like rifle ballistics etc. But it's simple and easy to use, with a rubberized finish, small, light weight, carry case, lasts a long time and is surprisingly affordable. Can't say how long it will last and it's only water resistant not waterproof so it may fog up or fail in certain wet/cold conditions and only time will tell how robust the internals are but still for stealing the price it seems.
