So where to start. This device has many flaws and a lot of excellent quality. Let's start with the cons. First, it's horrible gallons per minute. I would say it's 25 to 50 gallons per hour. That being said, it doesn't suck very well with the attachments that are given. It serves its purpose, however I personally feel that it needs a little more power to compensate for the larger baits. Second, the filter is terribly plain and simple. The filter has holes large enough to allow dirt and debris to go straight back into the tank. It fogs up the tank and leaves it very dirty after vacuuming the gravel. However, you can make up for this by adding filter material to the filter to make up for the lack of filtration. However, this slows down the vacuuming somewhat. Third, it is too large a unit to handle small tanks like 5-30 gallons. It's almost a must for 55-300 gallon tanks. This is also a disadvantage as the device is NOT submersible. You must stay 5 inches above the water surface to avoid damage to electrical components. This will result in a fall as water will spill out of the unit and if you are not careful it will create a huge mess. Now let's move on to the advantages of this device. First, it's very versatile. The device comes with a number of attachments. and can be used as a vacuum cleaner or water changer. So, as I said in the cons, it is better to use this device as a water changing system for small pools and as a gravel cleaner for large pools. The device has many nozzles for cleaning a large area and even a small area. Second, it does very well with sand and substrate once it has been on that particular area for a while. The engine of the device is very well built. It easily copes with large debris and does not break under such a load. The motor is EXTREMELY quiet and does not vibrate at all. Third, it doesn't bother plants as much as other vacuums. The lack of power is a double edged sword as it does a good job of vacuuming but leaves the plants unscathed. The vacuum cleaner is decent in that it doesn't harm fish and plants. Thank you for reading.
