Review on πŸ”§ YIHUA Desoldering Variable Temperature Function: Precision Electronic Component Remover by James Womble

Revainrating 5 out of 5

First use went well

Yes, the instructions are a bit, well, not perfect. I've never found out if I need to enter a password or if there's a default, but so far it hasn't been necessary. This worked very well on small component connections and even on board mounted potentiometers. With one notable exception, the tips are not large enough to desolder the mounting tabs on PCB connectors, shielded potentiometers, etc. You still need a solder wire. It takes a few minutes to heat up to the point where you can use the vacuum, but it will beep to let you know when. It comes with a rubber grommet which I have no idea what to use for and I've been in electronics for over 50 years. The stereo preamp is much less messy. No shield tabs.

Pros
  • One-hand operation - Model 948 is unlike any traditional desoldering method where you hold the iron in one hand and the desoldering tool in the other. Our 948 desoldering station allows you to guide and disassemble with one hand.
Cons
  • Fading
