Review on πŸš— Mio MiVue C570 Mini Car Security Dash Camera - Full HD 1080p, 150Β° Wide-Angle Lens, Built-in GPS, G-Sensor for Emergency Backup, Auto Power On & Safety Alerts by Kyle Terry

Revainrating 2 out of 5

This DVR is amazing. And not in a good way.

This camera could do better, so I give it the second sympathy star in my rating. Whatever "geniuses" designed this thing seem to think that all windshields are the same because there is no hinge between the camera and the windshield suction cup. So if you're driving a Corvette, it's pointing up because of the curvature of the windshield. On the other hand, if you drive a dump truck, it will be directed towards your property. For example, if you want to turn it toward the driver's window after a run-over, you'll need to detach the suction cup (or remove the camera from the mount) and hold it in your hand to record the action. The screen is too bright for nighttime driving (even on the lowest settings) and doesn't light up the cab much better than my two-din Android radio (I don't want my truck's cab lit up like a Broadway show at night). While the screen is bizarrely bright, it's small and effectively useless given the layout of the display: button functions and information are presented on the screen from above, below and from the side, defeating a decent viewing area. recorded image; Instead of being superimposed over the image, indicators have special lines that take up real estate on the screen. GPS speed is terribly inaccurate and fluctuates wildly. The benefit of this dash cam is that 1) the device came with a micro SD card, 2) the clock is fine-tuned based on the time provided by the GPS, and 3) the image capture in low light conditions is almost impressive. I was hoping to replace my $30 DVR with this one, but it looks like I'm still looking for a replacement. I might keep this one for an "emergency" in case my old one dies, but I'll probably throw this one out instead. For the price, the thing should have a touchscreen and maybe even rotate. Instead, it's convincingly disappointing (who designs a non-adjustable camera mount!?!?). As I said, the second star in my rating is only because the camera could be a bit worse.
