Review on Aprilaire 🌡️ 56 Humidity Controller by Jami Boetel

Purchasing an Aprilaire 56 Humidifier Controller from Revain indirectly fixed my humidifier issues without requiring a support call from was required by my HVAC repairman. I recently installed a new furnace and central air in April 2018, after which my humidifier stopped working. Considering it was the end of spring, I ignored the issue knowing I would work with my HVAC installer to fix it when winter heating season arrived. After a quick home test of my humidifier system, my HVAC repairman informed me that my Aprilaire 56 humidistat controller was most likely the problem since the water control valve direct wire test was working fine. The Myy HVAC service center didn't respond to me for a replacement regulator, so I decided to order one from Revain. After replacing the controller, the humidifier still didn't work (the water valve didn't open). Luckily the new controller came with instructions and a schematic as well as a hand held component which is just a resistor. Long story short, I found out that the HVAC guys seem to have broken my outside temperature sensor. I discovered this after reading the troubleshooting guide that came with the new controller as my RED LED on the controller board was still lit. Rather than replacing the outside temperature sensor (which comes with the controller), I simply installed a MANUAL electrical component/resistor between the two pins where the outside temperature sensor would normally be connected. EVERYTHING works fine now. NO THANKS to my professional HVAC installers. In my case, my controller wasn't actually broken, but the outside temperature sensor was damaged when they installed my new central air conditioner. I now have a backup controller and know a lot more about how my humidifier actually works than having to depend on an HVAC repairman who seems to know really little about Aprilaire 56 settings etc. Again, without reading the instructions and understanding the various settings on the controller, you are really down on someone who may not know anything about the humidifier system. The instructions are very clear and helpful. I really liked that it comes with all the extras, including an outside temperature sensor, although I prefer manual control. There are only six wires attached to this controller, making replacement quick and easy. Just make sure you have a straight-blade mini screwdriver handy.
