I ordered these mugs hoping to spend hours sipping hot coffee while I work - without a heater. Here is my experience. The lid on the mug isn't for sipping - it's too big because it's meant for stirring with a spoon (according to the note that comes with the mug). So you need to find another cover. I tried my silicone coffee mug lid but it didn't fit this mug because the mug's handle is very close to the rim of the mug - the silicone lid cannot be pressed down. However, you need a lid to drink, because the rim of the cup is very hot, at least initially. In fact, along with the mug, you get a warning about it. Finally, the mug's shell doesn't insulate effectively but provides comfort for your hand. If you even touch the bottom of the cup first, OH - it's very hot too.
