Review on πŸ”₯ Broan-NuTone BCSD130SS Glacier 30-inch Stainless Steel Range Hood with Light and Exhaust Fan for Under Cabinet by Chris Hernandez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Huge trouble to install, looks cheap but nice overall.

First of all, this product was very difficult to install. It came with some "EZ-Installations" mounts which I assume will work in the right environment, but I just couldn't get them to work. The unit was light and easy to lift, but I needed a third lever to set it up properly. However, while I was lifting it, someone else couldn't get under me to drill holes or insert screws. The project took over two hours of trial and error before I was finally able to balance this thing on my shoulder and head just enough to get the first screw in. Then it wasn't so bad. I like the look of the unit as it matches my stainless steel oven. I used to have a very old 1986 microwave that came with the house. We argued about replacing it with a different microwave but settled on the hood. I was very happy that it fit the space and looks good once installed. The price of this hood is also very satisfied. This is one of those cheap items that look expensive. The lens hood itself is very cheaply made, thin metal, sharp edges, and no plug or bulbs were included. I had to make my own wiring which was easy but I still expected the unit to come with a regular plug as I already had a microwave socket. The bulbs needed are also not normal screw bulbs, so I have to look for them at an additional cost. The fan is made of plastic and the vent covers are very thin and transparent, I'm not sure how well they filter. But the fan is quiet on low settings, which is good.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
