These cables look great and are shaped like a reservoir. They have shot peened metal ends and a very attractive cotton outer shell, double shielded (metal braid and foil). Subwoofers. This is not due to any magic grain alignment in the copper wire. (Don't laugh - I've seen cable companies claim this. Actually, laugh because it's ridiculous.) This means that the cable's shield is only grounded at one end, not both. This prevents it from conducting electrical current that can cause ground loops (hum). You ground it on the source side because that's where the signal comes from. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you hooked it up the wrong way, but at least it reminds you which way the signal is going. And most importantly, it helps avoid ground loops, which when you encounter them is pretty awful. These are absolutely fantastic cables at a very reasonable price. My advice is to get it a little longer than you think you need. A little extra length usually doesn't matter much, but if it's not enough, you're dead in the water. Two meters is quite appropriate for most applications. A meter is shorter than you think and should only be used when connecting two components in the same housing. And even then, if you change the configuration later, it will probably be too short to use. One thing to know before purchasing this particular cable is that it is a single subwoofer cable. If you need a right and left stereo cable this won't work unless you buy two of them. Highly recommended (for subwoofers). Sean Logue, 2016
