Updated rating 5/3/2019: Original rating below. So I bought them and wasn't happy with them but kept them as it would have cost me what I paid to send them back. I threw them in a box and immediately forgot about them. Months go by and you end up bumping into them again while cleaning. Started playing around with them and figuring out why they weren't working when they should have. Finally I found that they have extra plastic on the top edge which is uneven and prevents the lid from snapping into place. And because it doesn't fit snugly, it pops off every time you try to open the top of the lid. My decision? Take a sharp knife and trim off the excess plastic, leaving a smooth, even edge. Result? Shakers that work as intended. The only thing I had to do was insert a toothpick to widen the holes in the salt shaker because kosher food didn't fit well through. There were no problems with normal iodized salt. Bottom line: if you want a small pair of handy shakers for personal use and don't mind doing a bit of DIY, I recommend these. They are really light and fit in my purse with no problems. First review: They would be perfect if it weren't for the fact that I can't open them until the entire top comes off. Everyone. Lonely. Time.
