This is a poorly designed product with many flaws. I bought this kettle because it's stainless steel and thought it would be a healthier option. However, the product has many disadvantages -1) The body of the kettle gets very hot. The boiler body is not insulated. So if you hold it incorrectly by the handle, you will most likely burn your hand more often than usual. 2) The heated water started to take on a metallic taste after a few uses. 3) The auto shut off sometimes works even though the water is not fully heated. Sometimes, when it's just warm, the auto shutoff will turn off the heating. You have to turn the heater back on to heat the water even more. 4) The cheap plastic base feels like it will fall apart easily. The only thing I liked about the kettle is the lid. It has a nice sturdy hinged lid to keep water from sloshing over the top.
