While the Honda/Acura are relatively reliable and durable, both upper and lower ball joints will need to be replaced over time. This is true to a greater extent in the New England region or anywhere the road surface is in poor condition. Lower ball joints absorb more losses/shocks. A Honda technician told me that the ball joints on Honda vehicles are pretty durable, but since the price goes up every year I bought a pair. The lower ball joint has gone up about $20 over the past few years, but the upper ball joint (integrated into the upper arm and cannot be replaced separately) has gone from about $50 to $150. My car is a 2004 TL and although Revain says it doesn't fit, it actually does because the part number is exactly the same. They are made in Japan, so quality is guaranteed. Replacement requires either a ball joint removal/installation tool or a hydraulic press. If you live in a snow belt, you can apply sealant to the nut and threads after installation.
