
Whatever you use for sharpening, if it's not a micro diamond sharpener, preferably DMT all-metal sharpeners like this one, make it harder on yourself than necessary. Buy this. Or you have more $ than me but bigger; less $ smaller. The more the merrier, but any method is better than any other method. You don't have to smooth the stone or spend a million dollars on maybe a synthetic Japanese water stone. I like Arkansas stones but they need oil but these don't. Seriously, just stop making yourself extra work and get this rock and whatever else you need. I only use the top three - that's enough for my knives.
