Product is NOT waterproof. Perhaps the best that can be said is the water resistance. The luminosity of the product could be significantly better. You really can't use anything other than mood or atmosphere lighting. TECHNICAL DISCUSSION: Color fading could be much smoother. As an electronics engineer, I don't think they digitally weighed the code correctly or paid due attention to the true "off" points of each LED (R/B/G). (When fading out, you NEVER want the LED to go completely off, as this will create an unwanted jerky effect.) I was expecting more variety since the strings/LEDs were *not all* lit the same color. with only 3 "channel" wires, meaning all 10 bulbs are the same color (so basically boring) - so 3 wires only means 3 colors at a time. It was disappointing. They should have used more wires. MORE: FADE, JUMP and ASYN FADE "work", but again the code could be done a lot better. The big problem is *ASYN JUMP*. The docs/instructions say it flashes 16 colors - this is NOT a true statement. There are only 6 (six) steps (with color), but worse, there is a seventh step that is completely "OFF" (ie: no light/color). The ASYN JUMP feature is advertised incorrectly AND it's very annoying because it looks "broken/flawed". Again, the problem is with the code. For kids who don't know much of a difference, this product is probably fine. but. would i buy it again? no
