Review on πŸ”§ GeeekPi Acrylic Case with Cooling Fan and 7PCS Heatsinks for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B & Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, Brown by Mindi Gefroh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good case to keep the CPU under load

The case provides enough cooling to keep the Pi4 under load. Before active cooling, the Raspberry Pi4 B (4GB version) reached the point of CPU throttling when compiling large projects such as a Linux kernel (40+ min CPU load on all cores). Core temperatures typically reached 82 C with the included passive heatsink. This is outside the throttling point, which I believe is around 80C. While this fan isn't silent, it delivers enough airflow to keep temperatures below the throttle point while performing the same compilation task. For example, the maximum temperature with passive cooling was 82Β°C. In this case, the maximum temperature was 57Β°C. I haven't ridden it again to check since it's about keeping it below the throttle point. As mentioned in another review, the instructions do not contain any connection suggestions. I used pin 6 (black wire connected first) and pin 2 (red wire connected last). Alternatively, for an almost silent fan, you can connect it to pin 1 (3.3V) instead of pin 2 (5V). For my purposes, the temperatures were more or less the same. The only thing I would like to add is some rubber feet to keep it in place. I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCLYL53/
