Review on Lenox Tools 1972929 Metalmax Diamond by Ruben Saunders

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nothing special about this blade.

I've done a few head-to-head comparisons with the old standard (and cheap) cut-off wheels on my 14" saw, and although the diamond is better too. The diamond cut is slightly rougher with a slightly wider kerf. Diamond cut times were a little slower, but not enough to complain about. Sparking was less with diamond but still significant enough not to create a safety difference. This can be advantageous in that the diameter does not decrease as you work (a common problem with standard abrasives) and also has some advantages in terms of durability, service, that I haven't been able to measure yet. slightly higher with a diamond blade - you absolutely can't miss the ear protection Also the extra weight creates more inertia when starting and stopping so when starting the saw tries to jump properly and when stopped it keeps turning a lot longer freer (on my saw, no brakes). I'll buy another one, but someone who's in labor all day might be getting the enhanced life benefits they need, so it's not a loser either. For the average user, I don't think the extra cost will justify it over a regular sharpening wheel in general - even if you use 10 or 12 sharpening wheels for one diamond wheel.
