I'm still getting used to interpreting signals. I'm getting warnings from miles away, wondering at first if it's worth the noise and doubting its accuracy, but now I have no doubts. I've learned that the intensity of alerts correlates with proximity/strength, and I can see them getting stronger and stronger the closer I get to a location. I drive US and state highways that pass through small towns on a weekly basis, so it's not uncommon for an officer to disappear when I finally get where he was. But I'm driving the same route to/from a very big city, so I'm learning the "spots". I had an alert that started over 3 miles away. The signal faded due to the topography, but gradually grew stronger as it reappeared, eventually becoming an "urgent" sound and I still couldn't see the officer. Until I reached a slight incline with a steep curve. It also picks up reflections from vehicles traveling in the same direction as me but far behind. Obviously weaker but I know where they're coming from because I walked past that place and saw an officer.
