To be honest. I have had this radio for 6 years. On the other hand, it's been in my backpack the whole time and I've only used the crank twice in those 6 years for testing within a minute or two (I was very careful not to be rude). This time, upon inspection, when taking it out of the box, the handle simply fell off. Apparently the plastic on the pole inside the radio is broken. everything else still works. I suppose the plastic handle isn't the best idea? I expected for the price. a bit better! I mean, if he can't handle being in a backpack, how will he handle an emergency? I think the search continues!
