Review on SCHWALBE Pro One TT Time Trial and Triathlon Tubeless Folding Bike Tire - Enhance Performance with Evolution Line, Addix Race, Multiple Sizes, Black/Tan by Shawn Xayamonty

Insanely thin - poor puncture protection

Unless you're running them on brand new, ultra fresh tarmac, these tires just aren't worth the risk of a puncture. On my first ride with these tires I punctured both the rear and front (the latter causing the accident). I have used GP5k TL and Schwalbe Pro One TLE tires in the past with no problems and have put 1,000 flat free miles on them over the years. Right from the start after mounting these tires I was concerned about how light and flexible they are compared to all the other tires I've used and I should have taken that as a red flag. If you save them for the triathlon, I hope the course is very well paved. Every Ironman I've done, you'll find yourself on closed freeway lanes where road debris is common. The time saving compared to the GP5k just isn't big enough to ruin the race. The difference in the bike's turning resistance is less than 1 watt, and while they're also very light, the 100 gram saving isn't that critical for time trials on most trails.

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Almost never
