Used as Plex media server

I got this to host my music and tv shows from home. I didn't expect the Raspberry Pi to be able to do the job for a TV show, but on a wireless network it does it perfectly! Instead, I used an RC car fan to place the fans on ball bearings inside the case. Integy 30mm fans, 7-8mm thick fans to be precise. They sit on the 3.3V rail as they can be very noisy at 5V. I also have a Kintaro heatsink to keep things cool (never seen 50 degrees Celsius). This thing sits on the wifi with a pre-made noob image and Plex! 24/7 I've never had to turn the thing off due to crashes. This is the most reliable computer I have ever owned. It's plugged into a wireless outlet so I can turn it off when I'm not home in case it ever breaks down. In fact, I only use the fork when there's a big thunderstorm coming up. I also used a solid state drive for the hard drive. This is a 2.5 inch msata adapter for 512GB msata disk. This route uses fewer amps to power the drive compared to a 2.5-inch SSD. Some SSDs draw 1.7 amps under load. Why didn't I purchase the msata geekworm adapter kit? Because flexibility, that's why. The entire Geekworm installation is worth every penny! I'm very picky about what I buy and would buy again anytime.

Pros
  • This is a metal case with a set of ultra-quiet fans for X820 V3.0 SSD/HDD memory card users, very easy to install, perfectly compatible with Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+/3B/2B/B+/Rock64 . X820 V3.0 board and X735 board, but not suitable for X720 board.
Cons
  • Makes me angry
