1. I thought it had a ribbed plastic top but it doesn't. It's flexible, which defeats the purpose I hired it for. My dashboard on the RAV4 has curves instead of perfectly flat areas. While this dashboard gives you a glossy, non-rough finish, it doesn't give you the hard, flat surface I need to glue my phone holder's suction area. This works if you have a completely flat textured surface. This may not work if you can't find a completely flat surface. It will stick but will maintain the contour of curves and you may not get a good suction seal. I can't.2. After using it for a few weeks I can confirm what others have said. When it gets hot or the sun hits the dashboard, the glue doesn't hold and everything collapses. I've washed the floor every time it's dropped and it will stick again by noon and then fall off, hopefully not under the brake pedal. Good design, BAD product unless you use it in winter.
