Review on Enhance Your Road Bike's Performance with Micronew SB-R472 Double 2X7 Speed Shifter Brake Levers for Shimano - Black Pair by Johnny Wheat

Great first brifter

UPDATE - Front derailleur broke after a few rides. When switching to a smaller ring, the portion of the ratchet was not engaged with a partial shift to allow for more cross-linking. (Old test part) Works as expected, switching operations are nice and crisp. These are my first brifters. If you're using the left one with a derailleur designed for triple shifting (cheap TZ30) and it works well even with the triple cranks set to switch from big ring to medium, plan on a proper double setup soon to get. With an Alivio RD-M410 rear derailleur and a big box bike with freewheel. I should have found out from the photos but this is not a brifter style. If you move the entire brake lever to the side to shift to larger gears/sprockets, you will find more leverage for the larger gears and less leverage for the smaller gears. I have slightly long fingers and the big lever is within reach, so if you have short fingers you might want to consider other options. However, I have everything on hand, so I can't complain. This or 3x7 version is the perfect way to turn a cheap shop bike (read: DENALI, Solara, Triban 100) into a true faster race bike.

Pros
  • Shimano compatible
Cons
  • Price piggy bank
