Review on πŸ–₯️ MITXPC MX500-USB3: Compact Mini-ITX Case with Fanless Design, USB 3.0, Wall & VESA Mount by Adam Mazie

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tough, tough case with great build quality and features

Tough case. The paint is of high quality, with a rough matte finish. The antenna holes are perfectly placed and pop out easily with a screwdriver and a hard punch, but otherwise they're securely fastened for the ones you'll keep. There are openings to allow the drive carrier to be mounted closer to the front or back, which will help some airflow to/from the processor. In addition, the drive tray doubles as a fan mount, allowing you to install 2 x 60mm fans instead of drives. There are 2 mounting points for 40mm fans on each side, but when the motherboard and PSU board are installed, only 10mm fans will fit. Without an internal power supply, you can install 20 mm fans on one side. The downside is the lack of a hard drive activity indicator (the only status indicator is labeled PWR, and the Mini-ITX system is so quiet it's hard to tell if it's powered on without it). Also, be sure to remove the VESA mounting hole punch BEFORE installing the motherboard if you intend to use it. You may be able to remove them later, but you risk damaging the board if you leave it on. Instead of taking everything apart again, it's easier to do it in advance. Even if you don't plan on mounting it this way right away, any other mounting option will cover the holes, so it doesn't hurt to be prepared (that's why I punched them). Overall this is a good case and simple. work with. I would definitely get a second one if I decide to do another mini-ITX build in the future.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Without machine gun
