Used padding over the blanket under my western saddle. I have a Tennessee Walker. The change in his gait was impressive. Much softer than the last time I rode it before I bought this last one. Was looking for a half pad to take the pressure off the topline. He relaxed after riding the entire 10 miles and 3.5 hours. The day had grown warm and the pillow seemed to absorb the warmth and moisture from his back. The pillow appears to be very well made considering the reasonable price. It seemed to make us both very relaxed and happy. I bought this rug when there were no reviews based on the description. I usually prefer products with reviews.
