When I wrote the first review I only tried them on a white t-shirt but they work great with dark colors too! I'm super impressed! I used markers to highlight the smudged design and they did a great job. A few layers are enough to make the color really bright. I take my words back and maybe that only applies to plain white materials but I love them and will definitely buy them again! Old tip: The consistency varies greatly from marker to marker. Some colors are drier than others. They color almost like crayons, not smooth like in the picture where they are colored on jeans, and do not shine through the blue of the jeans due to the color of the marker. So far I've only used them on a white t-shirt and I've had much better results with other pens. Again, some colors are great and consistent with the image shown by the seller, but not all colors produce the same result. In fact, I could not recreate the image in her painting even if I wanted to.
