Review on 🏠 Govee WiFi Outlet: Smart and Efficient Home Automation Solution by Paul Wall

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product but one major fault

Revain sells their WiFi plug for $25 and in this one you get 4 for $25. So of course I drove it. Came in a box, there is little space inside, not superfluous. It took me a while to set them up as the Gouwi has two different exits. Wi-Fi plug (this one) and smart plug. After trying to set up the device for 10 minutes, I found that I was trying to connect the wrong device. Then I clicked on the Wi-Fi Connector and the installation went quickly. I then connected my lamp to the WiFi socket and then checked how to connect to Alexa. It was really easy to connect, I just clicked the smart plug in the govee app, clicked settings, then Alexa and boom, connected. The WiFi connector has never been arbitrarily disconnected. Every time I told Alexa to turn on the lamp, it always worked. A fatal mistake, however, is that you cannot plug 2 smart plugs next to each other. One of them plugged into an upstairs outlet and when I went to get the other one to plug into a downstairs outlet I found it was too big. If I were Govee I would do the same as Amazon would make them a rectangle so you can have 2 of each other. Also, when there is a power outage, the plug will automatically connect to my internet, which is good because some products forget to turn off the power. Size issue aside, they are really good and work as advertised. Arrived on December 24th 1/3/2021. Pros: - Can be turned on with a button on the side - Automatically connects to WiFi after a power outage - Works with Alexa (it says it works with Google but I haven't tested it) - Nice clicking sound when turning it on - on and off - can also be switched on/off via the govee app - can set timers - responds quickly to demand alexaCons: - the round shape makes it impossible to put one under the other (see pictures) - it takes 15-30 Seconds to reconnect to WiFi after unplugging and re-inserting it from the wall (to simulate a power outage) - 2.4GHz only (meaning it won't work with 5GHz internet) - The App needs to know location For some reason - the iPad app is just a port of the app for the iPhone, but more than that, the app doesn't fit my iPad in full screen mode.

Pros
  • Electrical
Cons
  • Slightly torn
