Review on Seachem 259 Gold Buffer 8 8 by Shannon Williams

I discovered this product about 4-5 years ago while investigating why one of my Ph tanks had broken and almost killed my fish. I found that my local tap water is very soft, there is practically no alkalinity and hardness. This product stabilizes and buffers my pH to keep my water stable and the good bacteria to thrive. I have 10 tanks in my house and I use this in all of them. Not only in my 2 goldfish tanks, but also in my 8 freshwater tanks. It's not just for goldfish. I chose this jumbo size because the number of tanks I have and the frequency of water changes means I can get through it pretty quickly, it's a great buy. It's also not a phosphate-based buffer, so it doesn't encourage algae growth. Once I ran out of this one and tried another one based on phosphates. All I got was muddy water and huge blooms of algae, both on the sides of the tank and floating freely. I won't make that mistake again. As long as SeaChem makes this and I have aquariums I will buy them again.
