Because the contractor installing the Grohe Smartbox for the first time had enough wall space to mount the Smartbox at any depth, since I usually only go up looking the details to finish kit to make sure they are all there i recommend this company to check the whole depth as they only support the minimum depth adjustment part. And the manual didn't specify that additional parts would be required to install to the maximum depth. So be careful because it is very expensive for plastic parts. Kind of fell down like we'd been fooled
