Unusable with the last update.

This lock was bought because of the automatic unlocking feature. It doesn't unlock at all. I also bought the August Connect so it automatically unlocks when I get home. I live where it rains almost every day all summer long. Auto unlock would have been nice instead of fiddling with keys in the rain. Now I have to sit in the car and fumble with the phone to open the door. The auto lock/unlock feature works with voice control via Revain Alexa. It just doesn't automatically unlock when you get home (as listed as one of the main features). You MUST take your phone out, open the app, press the lock, then press unlock. This works great but takes longer than just using the key. I sent feedback via app and email in August to let them know the unlock feature is not working. I haven't heard from them and the unlock feature hasn't been fixed. So the feature I bought this lock for has been down since August and is unresponsive after sending multiple messages over the past two weeks. For this reason I can only give this castle two stars. August, fix unlock function and received C/S.10/08/18 I have sent two more emails to defunct August customer service. You guessed it, the answer is NO. The August app has been slightly updated. The August icon is now visible in the top left corner of my phone. It shows Home and Away BUT the auto unlock feature is still NOT working. Hello August, this was one of your selling features and it is still NOT working. Updated 01/22/2019. I would like to downgrade the star rating to ZERO stars. I've sent four or five more emails and a few more through the August app and am still waiting for a real response or a fix to get the auto unlock feature working. August does not reply to emails at all. I only received automatic replies via email (the email indicates that this is an automatic reply). August released another hardware update on 01/19/2019 that does not fix the auto unlock feature. If you're looking for a lock that automatically unlocks when you get home, generally look for a different lock: 1) The main function (automatic unlock) does NOT work. 2) NO customer service. 3) Opening the door with the app takes longer than with your key. 2/4/2019 Received feedback from August. The problem is that when I get in, my phone connects to the car's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Just like a lot of other people who have smartphones and new cars. Disconnecting your phone from WiFi and disconnecting it from your car's Bluetooth (which means you can't make hands-free calls from your car) triggers August's smart lock/connection with auto-unlock. After that, the lock works, so it's only worth three (3) stars now. If you have an August Connect, it's connected to your home WiFi and your phone can unlock the lock. Bluetooth is not required. Update 7/17/2019: With the new app update, I want this lock to start at minus five (5). Nobody should use their own products. What have you done. Disabling any of the following features: Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, or putting your phone on airplane mode will disable auto unlock and MUST reset it. It doesn't matter if you re-enable this subsystem, the August app disables the auto-unlock feature. The reset then requires you to be home to get your GPS location, access Wi-Fi, and connect to the lock via Bluetooth. That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen from a developer. Once the setting is complete, the app should save the setting so you can enable/disable the subsystem to save battery or at least protect your phone (open Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connection). This clearly shows that NOBODY in August is actually using these products in the REAL world. So my current option is not to waste your money on this useless, overpriced padlock. This is a dumb lock, not a smart lock.
